The Fig Bar & Grill

The Fig Branding Project

The Challenge

Sophie was opening The Fig Bar & Grill on the seafront at Gorleston-on-Sea and needed a full brand identity to match the ambition of the place — a logo, menus, signage, and website that all worked together from day one. The restaurant itself had a lot going for it: a Greek and Mediterranean menu, a rooftop terrace with sea views, and a laid-back coastal setting that could easily draw people in on atmosphere alone. The brand needed to live up to that — warm and inviting enough for a relaxed beachside meal, but polished enough to signal genuine quality, not just another seaside takeaway.

It also needed to flex across very different touchpoints: an eat-in dining menu, a rooftop bar, and a takeaway/delivery operation all had to feel like the same restaurant, whether someone was reading a printed menu at the table or ordering through the website at home.

The Solution

The identity was built around the fig itself — a simple, distinctive motif that's unmistakably Mediterranean without falling back on the usual Greek restaurant clichés of columns, olive branches, or blue-and-white colour schemes. It gave Sophie a mark that felt authentically tied to the cuisine while still standing on its own as a piece of branding.

From there, the logo, colour palette, and typography were carried consistently across every application — menus for the main dining room, the rooftop, and the takeaway "Hatch," signage for the building itself, and a website built to handle everything from browsing the menu to placing an online order. The tone throughout stays warm and sun-drenched, echoing the coastal, Mediterranean feel of the food, while staying clean enough to read easily on a menu or a phone screen.

The Result

The Fig Bar & Grill now has a cohesive brand that shows up the same way whether you're walking past the sign on Marine Parade, sitting down at a table, or ordering delivery from your phone. The restaurant has built a strong local reputation since opening — regularly praised for its rooftop views, generous portions, and Mediterranean flavours — and the branding gives that reputation a visual identity that feels just as considered as the food.
